How information may be used

Personal information may be used to provide remittance services, verify identity, assess transaction risk, respond to enquiries and meet regulatory obligations.

Sharing information

Where permitted or required by law, information may be shared with banks, payment partners, service providers, regulators or law-enforcement agencies.

This page is a concise customer-facing summary and should be read together with Salsal Exchange’s current internal privacy and compliance procedures.

Terms of Service

By requesting a transfer, customers agree to provide accurate information and follow Salsal Exchange’s verification and payment requirements.

Customer responsibilities

  • Provide accurate sender, recipient and purpose-of-transfer information.
  • Provide valid identification and supporting documents when requested.
  • Use the service only for lawful purposes and not on behalf of an undisclosed third party.
  • Follow approved payment and transfer instructions.

Rates and transfer availability

Exchange rates may change and are confirmed when a transaction is accepted. Destination, payout method and processing availability may vary.

Review or refusal

A transaction may be delayed, declined, cancelled or held for review where required by law, sanctions controls, fraud prevention or AML/CTF procedures.

AML / CTF

Salsal Exchange applies risk-based controls under Australia’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing framework.

Customer due diligence

We identify and verify customers and may request information about source of funds, purpose of transfer, recipient details or beneficial ownership where relevant.

Transaction monitoring

Transactions are monitored on an ongoing basis and may require additional or enhanced review depending on value, destination, customer profile or other risk factors.

International transfers

Transfers involving higher-risk corridors, including Afghanistan, Pakistan or Iran, may require enhanced due diligence, additional supporting information, source-of-funds checks or recipient verification.

Where required, Salsal Exchange makes regulatory reports to AUSTRAC. A transaction may be refused where legal or compliance requirements cannot be satisfied.

Australian Sanctions

Salsal Exchange does not process transactions that would breach Australian sanctions law.

Sanctions screening

Relevant customers, recipients, banks, companies and other transaction parties may be screened against the current Australian Government DFAT Consolidated List.

Iran-related transactions

Iran-related transfers may be subject to enhanced sanctions and AML/CTF review. We do not directly or indirectly make funds or financial assets available to, or for the benefit of, a designated person or entity.

Transaction outcome

A transfer may be delayed, declined or stopped where a sanctions concern cannot be resolved.

Australian sanctions listings can change. Salsal Exchange applies the current requirements in force when a transaction is assessed rather than relying on a fixed website list.

Complaints

We aim to handle complaints fairly, respectfully and as promptly as reasonably practicable.
